Someone posted in one of my mom's groups asking for advice. Her son wants a dog so she found one on craigslist. It's a stray some lady found and hasn't even taken to a vet. She's charging $50 for the dog. She wanted to know if that was a reasonable cost.
I told her all of the issues with this (disease, temperament, possibly microchipped and lost). I told her to go to a shelter or rescue. She said she could not afford the adoption fee at a shelter. So how on earth is she going to afford to vet this craigslist dog??!? Not to mention possibly risking the health of her family?
I told her that if she can't afford to adopt a dog, she can't afford to keep one. I was nicer than that. But ugh. :beatdeadhorse:
