Let me start off by saying what a beautiful Newf you have, her face is to die for! I feel like I just went through the some of the same things you described. I got my first Newf, Ella in October. She came from what I thought to be a good breeder who gave me all pedigree paper work and showed me health clearances on the mother who I met. I got her at 13 weeks and she seemed thin. We feed her taste of wild 22% protein grain free. At 14 weeks she was vaccinated and dewormed by my vet. She weighed under 30lbs at 14 weeks, and looked and felt thin when she got her first bath. I took her back to the vet 2 weeks later and asked them to do a stool test and to check her ears because she was shaking her head a bit. The vet found an ear infection in one ear and Giardia in her stool sample. She was treated with topical ear antibiotics and antibiotics for the parasite found in her stool. Several weeks have passed since her treatment and she is doing sooooo much better. She is now almost 5 months old, weighs 44.5lbs and ribs can be felt not seen. I'm no vet, but I wonder what kind of test your vet used to do the stool sample. Reason I ask is because Giardia requires special diagnostic procedures that are required for finding and treating the affected pup. Just a thought and congrats on your adorable puppy, I can't get enough of that sweet face!
