sending my baby girl off to college

Well, tomorrow will be one of the happiest and saddest days of my life. My darling daughter will move to Lakeland College, near Sheboygan, Wi. About 1 1/4 hours away. We are so very proud of her. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a full tuition Scholarship from Lakeland, which is a private college and expensive! I have been taking care of her this week, she had her wisdom teeth out on Monday, but all is going well. I will be the one with the package of tissues in hand!

Start reducing the 'sads'..by making lists of ..'fun stuff'..to mail to her, as 'survival packs'. I did for many students..and even my sons..who spent the years..about 3 miles from the farm..in rental apts..shared with their respective buddys. :) ina n HB n Kesa

Congratulations to you and your daughter for getting the full scholarship! Now you have an excuse to drop in and see her...when you just happen to be driving by as you take the dogs to swim in Lake Michigan!

I cried - a lot - and then also made little (many times very inexpensive) survival packs fo my kids, too. Congratulations on raising such a high achieving young lady!!

I didn't cry last year when we dropped off my son and he is 3 hours away. I guess it's the mother/daughter thing. and now both will be away.

You should be proud! When I moved out, my mother sent me survival packs on occaison and lots of cards and phone calls.

I can sooo relate. We just got back from bringing our youngest to college today. He is 3 hours away and it is really a strange feeling not having him home with us.

Survival packs rule. When I left for college (granted, I was only about 20 mins away) the school had a Freshmen-Must-Live-on-Campus thing. So I did, and my birthday was about five days after we all reported. Our campus dining department had a "birthday" package, and my parents ordered it. I got a full cake delivered, with balloons too, and I used it to deck out the common room and meet the whole dorm.

I met everyone, and it was a great way to do so, especially giving that I was somewhat shy.

It was the best survival pack ever.

Best of luck. I can't even think about that day, even though I know it will be here before I blink for Charlotte.

Congratulations to your daughter for receiving such a wonderful scholarship!

We are in our third year of "empty-nesting" after raising four children. Our youngest is a college junior this year, and attends school four hours away.
