Gus has been having skin issues for a while now... I thought it may of been stress related.. Us having our 1st human child!.. Kept our routine as close as possible and still tried to keep our normal routine as regular as possible.. Gus is always included in all family events.. SO I am pretty sure now it is not related to his brother.. (plus its been a few yrs now)` though these skin problems have been up and down `since` then.... we have switched foods.. tried orijen.. horrible for us... his coat was at it`s worst on this... but also during this the vet rocommended another 3mths of the revolution.. wondering now if it is the revolution vs food... he is now on TOTW.. but I gave him another treatment abpout 2 weeks ago and he is starting up again.... losing clumps of hair.. asa well as thinning hair around his muzzel and eyes.. chewing his feet... when I was blowing himout.. his skin is red and irritated.. we are putting him back on antibiotics I believe Keflex was what worked best for him... I am also putting him back on the Eagle pack Holistic.. He didn`t love it... But he had a beautiful healthy coat and no skin issues...

Hope that all made sense... Any advice would be great.. ALso had thyroid, FT4 testing .... and he is good....

Tx folks.. greatly appreciated!!

Thank you for your help - Appreciated - Just on the wait list at the Vet college in Guelph.. Hopefully we can get some answers - allergy testing ect - but the keflex seems to be helping.

I would think it is totally possible he is allergic to the revolution, and would definitely be asking about having that checked out, along with anything else you think could be triggering it (even cats!)

When Gunny had a skin infection, flaky skin, itching red spots and chewing his paws, my vet recommend cephalexin 500 mg. 3 capsules two times a day for at least 4 to 6 weeks. He said alot of times you don't keep them on the medication long enough to really knock out the bacteria.
