Does anyone have results from the regional specialty? They don't seem to post them on the web site that was mentioned in the previous post.

Yes. Kelli (kzdz) and I carpooled up to St. Cloud to watch the show. I think we both really enjoyed ourselves! Now I'm convinced that we need to go to nationals!
We also had the opportunity to meet Newfvo and Bluedog
and that was cool, too!

I took notes while I watched, and I have them at home. I can't remember the results off the top of my head, but I was told that it was an "upset," as there was a favorite that did not win.
This was my first Newfie show, so I was clueless to that... I'll try to remember to get out my notes and post the results tonight.

Hey, thanks Tiff ... that would be great. Aren't Newfie shows cool? When we first started looking into the breed many years ago we went to one and it left a lasting impression.

I just talked to someone who said a lot of people were really disappointed with the judge for the specialty portion of the show ... but who knows....

Oh, I wish I could have been there! I ended up working until 3, though. :( Glad you had fun! Can't wait to see the winners list.

The Best of Breed was Ch Noirelune Fairy's Touch. I believe it was Ch Pouch Cove's Politician that was favored to win. We had been told earlier to keep an eye on Polo, (I think that's what his call name is, but I'm not positive) and he was gorgeous, but I know my eyes kept drifting back to the eventual winner. I couldn't put my finger on it, but there was something about that dog...

I have to say, that even with our very limited experience watching dog shows, Tiff and I should have been at the track last Friday. We were picking winners left and right! :D We had planned on only staying for part of the day, but then just couldn't leave. The Best of Opposite was a beautiful puppy, but I can't remember her name. Tiff kept track in her program, though, so I'm sure she can fill us in later.

I had never seen an obedience trial, so I really enjoyed watching that in the morning. All in all, I'm really glad I went - for now. Check back with me again when I get my grades back for my finals. ;)

Thanks for posting those, Bluedog.
I've been out sick with the flu... otherwise, I would've gotten to that sooner...

One can never tell who is going to win! It's true that Polo may have been favored, but the favorite doesn't always win. The following week on the Friday (3rd show of a 5-day event), he won his 13th Best in Show of the year while beating the #2, #3, #4, #5 and #9 dogs (of all breeds) in the country! Probably his best day ever according to his owners. He took three Group 1 and two other Group placements in the 5 days (the 3 Group 1's were over the #1 Working Dog in the country - a Dobe). Polo is around #7 in the Working Group and I believe this may be the only year that two Newfs are in the top 10 Working Group (Darbydale's All Rise Pouch Cove -"Josh" is #2 and the winningest Newf of all time). I believe that Polo won three or four regional specialties earlier this year.

I can't help talk about Polo because he is such a well-balanced and well-tempered beautiful boy, although not all that large. We're amateur handlers but have seen him at a half dozen shows this year.
