Regional Newfie Club

The Newfie Club of Hawaii is currently not recognized by the NCA. We are still trying to get it going...it needs constant resucitation if you know what I mean (lol!). I was reviewing the NCA Bylaws trying to figure out the nomination/voting process. We currently have officers. I was wondering when your local regional newfie club votes for their officers? Do you guys do it formally by having a nominating commitee then voting by Dec 1 or whenever the deadline is?

I'm a member of SCNC (South Central Newfoundland Club) and currently serving as one of four Members at Large on our Board of Directors. I am also the editor of SCNC's newsletter. We have a Nominating Committee, which is appointed by the Board. They put together a Slate, which is mailed out to Membership (It was just mailed on the 15th, in the Newsletter, which is required by our bylaws). Members must then recieve ballots, postmarked no later than 12/25/00. They will fill them out, mail them to the Recording Secretary. She will keep them "unopened" until our Annual Meeting (February 12th). At that time, the current President will appoint a committee of 3 people (not on the slate) to count all the votes.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Annie. Yes, your post was very helpful. With such a small newfie community here in Hawaii, it is so hard to get things going in the right direction. Thanks again

I think we may have about total 30 in the whole state. I'm trying to post here and my girl Maia is being a total love bug tonight. Everytime I stop petting her, she gets her big head under my hand! lol!
