Rawhide-ish

Curious if anyone is aware of or using anything for their Newfs that is similiar to a rawhide chew? I never feed P.J. rawhides after reading several articles about the digestive problems they can cause but was curious if anyone knows of something similiar.

I know Nylabone makes several products that are "completely edible & fully digestible" but have no experience with the product(s).

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Kodi eats the edible and digestable bones from RCSteele. His favorite is the peanut butter one. He's only allowed the chew bones under supevision. I haven't had any problems with them. I wouldn't suggest the dried beef muscle strips. Kodi got a 1 inch square piece caught in this throat and couldn't breathe. It was a scarey moment!

Well we tried the Nylabone "Carrot" flavored today. I told my wife to help me remember what day we gave it to him so we would have a feel for how long it lasted. Went outside to transplant a small tree and when I came back I told my wife I marked the calander rather than trying to remember.

She informed me there was no need, it was already gone...21 minutes to be precise lol. And the search continues.

I think they're great, but they're very pricey (over here at least - about $8/AU) and that is fine if it lasts a week - but for 21 minutes? Uh-uh.

We got Rory one when she was about 10 weeks old and it sat around for about a month. Then she worked out it was fully edible and worked and worked at it, it was gone in about a week. However her next one, when she was a little older, lasted about a day.

I'd forgotten about them actually, I might get her one next week as a treat.

I do give her rawhide occasionally actually - there is this knotted bone beef basted one I get occasionally when I'm planning a BIG grooming session because it keeps her lying still for at least an hour while she chews and I comb. I know they're a bit controversial though.

She gets big marrow bones at least once a week, and loves them to bits.
