A very nice lady on Facebook is phoning me today with some info on a potential cancer inhibiting diet the ketogenic diet which means high protein, fats and zero carb veg.

Obviously I am not giving up to Max's cancer without a fight so:cussing2::cussing2:
am starting him on raw food today.
Has anyone any raw food advice?

Also have bought a dehydrator so will be making treats for him as well.

Diet can help. Cancer feeds on sugar. Carbs are sugar. Sugar in one form or another is in everything commercially processed so making your own from scratch is the way to go. My experience with diet is from the human perspective especially the specific carbohydrate diet, gaps, paleo however I have heard anecdotes of people and their pets avoiding recurrences of cancer or overcoming it (though diet was not the only treatment.). As for ketogenesis, some people do well with it and some do not. I'm wary of it myself for humans and prefer some simple carbs be included. I highly recommend the Ted talk given by dr. Terry wahl on how she cured her severe progressive ms using diet.

Thanks Cathy for the link

Are there any things l need to avoid as heard somewhere kale or broccoli had to be added to diet in smaller amounts.

My brain is on overload atm.

He wasn't majorly impressed with his first meal but he ate 3/4 of it so will wait and see.
Also is it OK to make up two days supply of food in one go and refrigerate.

You could also check out the Budwig Protocol or Cancer Diet. It sounds similar to what you are implementing. You should be able to find it on Google. I know if I lose another dog to cancer and have the chance to fight it (my girl hid hers to well) I would certainly implement a canine form of the Budwig diet.

I also have been making dehydrated doggie treats out of sliced venison but you could use any meat. With any game meat it should be frozen for a month or 2 before you defrost it and dehydrate it. Also It is a little easier to slice the meat into thin 1/4" slices when it is partially frozen. I then keep the dehydrated treats in the freezer and pull them out whenever I need to. My dogs love crunching on them frozen.

Good luck and keep up the good fight.

Refined sugar is the bad thing. Glucose is the only substance the body actually uses for energy. Everything else we eat is turned into glucose.

I am bemused in one way , cheesed off in another and happy in another way

I was in the supermarket choosing Max's oats for his diet.never in my life did l ever think l would be comparing gi indexs on oats.ln the end l bought two different boxs in case he prefers one above the other.also you would think oats were oats no the cheaper bags have higher gi indexs.

Phoned Max's specialists to find out what was happening on his future treatments. Finally rang me back later on in the evening and during the course of the conversation l told him about Max's new diet. It can help with some cancers was his reply.
Well why the hell didnt you tell me rather than a nice american lady helping me. he is being referred to the Royal Cambridge Vetinary college and on perusing their website found out l need to stop his meds for a week prior to an appointment.again why havent my specialists told me!!!

On the happy side Max finally ate his food without having to be coaxed. When my cans of dog food are cinished then will adapt the diet so they are all on similiar
