Quick photography lesson

How many times have you tried taking a photo near a window only to have the window be completely blown out (white). This short lesson will teach you how to eliminate that.

First put your camera on auto. Point it toward the window, push the shutter button down half way and read the settings. In the photo below I had my ISO at 100 my normal for taking photos. The settings read: Shutter speed 1/10 of a second (it would read a number 10 in the shutter speed location in your view finder) The F-stop was 7.1 Then put your camera dial on manual and put in those settings. Then attach your flash if you have an external flash, if not be sure to set your camera to flash always on. Compose your shot and take the photo. The camera is set to the window and the flash will bring in the details of the inside room. Here is a photo showing the end result
