Product Review - ID tags

I thought I would share this....

When we got ruby last year, we ordered an ID tag from Red Dingo. They have a great selection and the tag was very high quality and heavy-duty. It also came quickly.

Fast forward to now, the engraving has worn down a bit from rubbing on her other tags, so I asked them about it, wondering if they would re-engrave it or recommend a way to polish it up.

Apparently they have a guarantee for the lifetime of your pet and will replace the tags (they don't replace lost or chewed tags though). I emailed a picture of the tag to them and the new order was placed within an hour and shipped that afternoon.

They won't change any info on the new tag, but still...It was great customer service.

We have the large enamel tag - its the perfect size for a Newf and can fit a name, an address and 2 phone numbers.

Putting the dog's name on the collar is not a good thing to do. If your dog gets lost or stolen the other person will know your dog's name. If going to court, about ownership of the dog, possession is 99% of the law. So if the dog responds to his/her name then that is a plus for the thief. If you know the name and the dog responds that is good for you. This happened to a customer of mine. She lost her dog even though she could produce photos of the dog as a puppy. If you have a tag with your dog's name be sure your dog is also microchipped. Put your name on the tag. Not the dog's.

Never thought of that, but our dog is chipped and we have her adoption papers with photos. And her dog license number is registered to is. so I think we are fine. But it's a good point. Sad that people would do that!
