I am a big fan of taking sky pictures: sunrise, sunset, odd looking clouds, rainbows, stars, etc.

Here are a few examples. Show me what you've captured.

A winter sun-rise:

Summer sun set:

Highway of light, through the clouds:

Looks like a cross in the brightest part of the sunset

VERY weird storm front that was moving through. I had never seen clouds in this kind of formation before:

wow those are amazing especially the last one. You could always send that picture to the weather channel and ask them about the clouds. Looks like waves.

Are those what is known as shelf clouds...and can they spawn either tornados or derecho winds...I have read about them recently, but my internal denial system has caused a memory loss.

I think you are right I just googled shelf clouds and they had a picture similar. You get a gold star! :)

Partial eclipse in the evening sky! This was taken as the sun was going down and the moon was moving between the earth and sun. I think that is an eclipse not a lunar eclipse. I had a 7 minute window to get a decent shot before the sun set.

Here's a picture from a hike I took earlier this year near Arapahoe Basin. Unfortunately my only camera is a crappy cell phone camera, but it was able to get the rays of sunshine coming through the clouds pretty good. It obviously looked much better in person, but still pretty cool.

A little support for a newcomer.

I love this photo so I hope you don't mind my help at posting it at a nice size with out the thumbnail.

Jeannie, that rainbow with the very dark sky behind it is striking.

Brittany, that double rainbow is so cool! You were doubly blessed that day.

Mjwalters17: your picture makes me want to go to the beach!

Angela, that would make an AWESOME Christmas card.

Jeannie, 3rd place for your partial eclipse photo. It almost feels like the sky is on fire.

Subverto, I love the way the sun's rays pierce through the clouds, to light up a gorgeous landscape. 2nd place goes to you.

Wayne...that Falls photo just takes my breath away. (You sure those colors are real?) Gorgeous. You get 1st place. You're up!

Congratulations to all of you. Thanks for participating, and sharing the beauty you found with your camera.

Thank you I'm honored. The colors are real the uv filter is making the sky bluer but the Falls is just plain gorgeous.

I have a problem though I go on vacation Fri so if it's good with everyone I would like to pass the honors to 2nd place Subverto.
I hope this is exceptable and a possitive experience for Subverto.

Don't seem to be getting a response from Suberto so I'll pick a theme and Jeannie or Angela will pick a winner.
