Pet Insurance - up date

  Well, I've gone from paying $65.00 per month to $95.00 per month! I was thinking about what Jen (Murphy) said, and decided to call Petsecure to see if I could get the unlimited (Secure 4) coverage. It covers so much more, including preventatives and dental... so long story short. I have her covered under Secure 4. Pre-existing conditions will still be at SEcure 3, but that's fine.. They also told me that come July, my percentage will most likely go back to 80% anyway because we've had so very few claims. I asked about Sentinal - since I have to buy two boxes (to make up to 120 lbs) and they cover both boxes - that's the deductable right there. $95.00 is alot, but you get so much more .... should have had that from the beginning, would have covered the spay too!

One thing tho, she told me that the deductables are age related, so the deductable will go to $400 next year... all their policies are like that.

Thank you for posting this. I am seriously thinking about insurance for my daughters new puppy Rio. I will have to google - PetSecure. A friend of mine was telling me about this credit card that is like a line of credit for your dog. I can't remember the name.

Actually, for your puppy, they'll cover so much for puppy vaccinations, spay, microchip and dewclaw removal.

I deal with Pet Secure as well, and they let me as a Canadian, work with a US vet....in fact, they are really awesome about it.

I know it's expensive Deb and the deductible sucks.. but for me it is worth peace of mind.. :) Unfortunately we will never be back at 80%.. :(

I know... but it's Unlimited to what they will pay, so that's something!
Thule's insurance now costs more than mine! :shocker:

we laugh as our pets insurance costs almost as much as their food. £100 for food a month for three dogs and £75 a month pet insurance.

glad you managed to get better cover though the $400 sucks. After eight years of age we have to pay a third of all costs of treatment but it is peace of mind

$400 deductible is alot, but with the yearly preventative care, you'd cover most of that. I like the unlimited part of the policy... you never know... and vet costs are just so expensive, $5000 is nothing anymore

Plus there is no $ cap on any one illness like some other companies.

I have to admit, after having over $30K in vet bills since Feb. of 2010, I am WISHING we had pet insurance! Peace of mind is definitely worth something--we were lucky to have the money set aside, but if we hadn't we'd be up a creek now. And the costs aren't stopping anytime soon.
