Other than green beans?

I am trying to take about 10 lbs off of my big boy, Ozzy. He is 160 lbs now and I feel a layer of fat over his ribs. I cut his kibble back from 2.5 cups at breakfast and dinner to 2.0 cups each meal and I tried giving him 1/2 cup green beans. He hates the green beans! Granted, it has only been a few meals, but he eats around them or doesn't eat at all. Now, Zoe, our baby girl, absolutely loves them. She thinks it is fabulous. Should I just keep giving him green beans and let him decide or is there another vegetable that he might enjoy that will serve the same purpose (low calorie and good filler)? Your suggestions are appreciated. THANKS!

About any raw veggie will work. Try carrots. Also for treats try bananas

My dogs will eat pretty much anything they see us eat. They especially love baby carrots. Especially when we play the game "grandma" started by biting off a small piece and spitting it into the air for them to catch. Great fun. And tasty, too. Pickles have also been popular in the past. Pretty much anything that falls on the floor is worth at least a try. Especially if it comes off of a people plate.
They never get much more than a few pieces of anything, though. The only thing I've seen Frank refuse was a slice of lemon. And even then she tried over and over to pick it up and enjoy it, but just had to spit it out again.

I did have a few moments of amusement this morning watching Morgan try to eat a grape. She would pick it up, it would roll around her mouth, and she'd drop it. Pick it up, roll around, drop. She eventually swallowed it so I bit another in half and gave it to her. Seemed to enjoy that one a lot more.

Not to bring up and old subject, but there was some post awhile back about grapes and especially raisin being toxic to dogs. Can be fatal. I use to feed some grapes as treats too, but stopped when I read those posts. Better safe than sorry

My guys eat most any vegetables. Mostly carrots, brocolli stems, lettuce, salad, parsnips, tomatoes (sometimes), green beans, even onions. They see me in the kitchen, they come running.

Someone once posted that your kitchen should have one door more than the number of newfs you have so they can't corner you in the kitchen.

And I thought my girl was strange because she comes running when she hears the vegetable drawer open!

She'll drop anything she's doing for a piece of broccoli stem!

mine have me trained, when i go grocery shopping of course i do the hauling in stages, haul bags from van thru gate to front step, get everything on step, close and lock gate open door and newfs come pilling out to sniff for the bag with the broccoli in it, once found, i give them their crown or half crown and run the rest of grocerys in the door. quite funny i must say, yes i do rinse them off quick to before i give them to them.

I wouldn't give banana's for weight reduction. They are extremely high in sugars. Usually the things you'd use as filler in humans will work for the dogs. I'm doing weight watchers and know that broccoli, cauliflower, green beans are all classified as zero points. Be careful though - as noted above, some veggies aren't good for puppers. Onions, bell peppers, grapes, etc. Toxic in large amts to our four-legged kids.

Cottage cheese is good sometimes , but remember never any yellow cheeses. Honey is also very good great for there hearts. tuggs loves the honey ,but he only gets it once a week. Sometimes soft cooked eggs. Bridget
