No I haven't lost touch. I just wondered if anyone else has told him. LOL I'm still FB friends with him. I'll let him know but last year I was his "touch base with" person, so we set up a time for him to visit (he stopped in Sat night). I won't be there for him to touch base with.

Are you friends with him on FB Stacy? Yes he's still a Mate/Captain on the Angler (a boat) in OC. Here's his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/dean.lo.7?ref=ts

Definitely ask Kelly to give the discount (we always got a room discount) and waive the dog fee. It's the last weekend they're open, so they don't have to do a "dog clean up".

I forgot about waiving the pet fee, I just assumed it was done. I'll call back and ask. FYI, there is only one room left on the 1st floor, the 3 bedroom. I got the studio, but I might see if I can get a 1 bedroom on the 2nd floor.

Should we try and all bring a little something for a raffle?? I have not a creative bone in my body, but I am pretty darn good shopper ;) Would be nice if we could get some money raised for Newf Rescue.... Of course, this means lots of advice and direction from the master Donnna!! haha!! I am sure we wouldn't be nearly as succcessful but anything is better than nothing right?? Anyone?

That sounds good.....at some point we should organize food/raffles. Can we not talk Donna into coming??? I think Frankie called Maggie last night and told her he really, really wanted to come! :whistling:

It's almost too late to have a "big" raffle event. The raffle stuff for last year was collected for months (from the middle of summer anyway), and the raffle tickets went on sale about a month in advance.

Plus Donna H put together the store for the "stuff" (t's and sweats and cups etc). We got the artwork from a couple of members, but then the Cafe Press store had to be put together and brought online.

It can still be done, but someone has to do the collecting of the raffle items, if they're "small" put them together in "baskets" (some came in baskets but not most), have an account set up for people to charge tickets, and keep track of all of the tickets bought...what kind (I did custom for the individual larger or "custom" items, or basket for the multiple items that were packaged into one), and how many. THEN once the tickets are drawn, the stuff has to be packaged and shipped out after the raffles. LOL

The raffle really did get to be a lot for one person last year....but it was very successful, and I was so thrilled that everyone was so generous. From the raffle and the store (which some graciously matched funds for) we donated $1,000 each to two different rescues ($2000 total) after the shipping and supply costs were taken out. The first year, Laurel was in charge, and I believe we donated about $350, the second year it was close to $600. So it GREW! Of course someone has to be a relentless ticket-pusher too. LOL

Donna H always did the breakfast, and the dinners for Fri and Sat were whatever everyone decided to bring. Donna would keep track of who was bringing what and what was needed. Of course there was ALWAYS a ton of great food. :)

I hope you all DO take over and keep it rolling. Scaling back a bit isn't a bad thing at all. It should be much easier to handle for whomever wants to take it on! I'm sure any rescue organization would be very pleased to be the recipient of whatever funds are donated!

I could have sworn Kelly (Windjammer secretary) said Megan (from Harrisburg) had reserved. If we're doing raffle baskets, then I'll do some shopping this weekend. I have a few dishes in mind too.

Scaling back for sure since I am a newbie, but I think it is a good idea not to give up our tradition that you worked so hard to keep. I will help out in any way. If you guys want me to put together baskets, or sell tickets etc. I am in... I just need a tad bit of direction :)

Donna's right, it is a little late for the normal big raffle....but we can still do a little something! We should probably start an official thread at some point.

Make sure you get pics of the raffle items...and put a thread with the photos of the items and put link in the thread for the Pay Pal account of whoever's collecting the money.

AND make sure people don't use the word "raffle tickets" or "raffle" when they buy the tickets on PP. PP considers that gambling and they'll shut the account right down.

Can we get a list of attendees from Kelly? We should probably start a new thread to see how many are coming, and dole out food requests for Friday and Saturday? Maybe we can do some games with our Newfs if the weather is good....

By the way, McD's gave me an unsweetend tea instead of sweet, and I'm really hot about it. I want to call and complain, but I know they'll just laugh.

Just name one person to coordinate the food. That person can start a separate thread and post the info there.

Dawn C.
Jessica=Pulled Pork & something else???
Stacy=Sweet potato casserole and couscous salad...I can make punch too

Hi guys, Suki went into heat this week. I think by the 26th, we'll be at the end of it (but it's only our second heat and I don't know if Suki is a 3 or 4 week kind of girl??). I wanted to check that it's still OK that we come. If this would present a problem for any of the other dogs, I'll cancel my reservation. And I would completely understand. I don't want to go and then keep Suki crated up the whole time, so please let me know if, for any reason, you think coming would be a bad idea. ???

thanks!!
Juliana
