Obi: a banner day!

Today we finally got obi into the pool! We tried a ramp and a platform but neither idea worked at all. He needed coaxing ie dh lifting him in the first couple of times but now he's got the hang of entering the pool himself. He was thrilled to fetch his bumper and swim around a bit. He was just beside himself with excitement when I stopped tossing it in.

I have noticed something though. Both at the beach and in the pool and also on some video of other Newfs in the water I hear they make a whining sound as they breathe. Usually it is when they are swimming and not just wading. At first I thought Obi was in distress but now I'm just wondering whether this is the way they are? Obi certainly doesn't show reluctance to go in the water so it can't be distress. Anyone else notice this?

Not sure if you just mean exitement noise....All of mine are quiet and they swim a lotand for long distances as we do water training.....but if they get exited, they might whine whilst swimming

Well done Obi sounds like he was very excited and really enjoyed the pool, good luck keeping him away from it now lol x

Taver makes almost a panting noise. At first I was worried about it, but he doesn't appear to be in any distress and is a water fiend.

Glad he finally made it into the pool. Buy skimmer socks or put a knee high over the skimmer basket. Trust me on this.

The amount of hair in my skimmer basket an hour after Taver gets out is well just special, check it frequently ;)
