I'm not surprised that the Goofy Newf you're watching has hot spots. The Nutri-Source Salmon kibble is low in omega-3 and way too high in omega-6.
Also in the ingredient list they indicate that the salmon meal is a source of oil which is not true. The first ingredient, salmon, would be the source but because of the technicalities of listing ingredients, this is a very limited source. The added oil is sunflower oil which would not provide usable omega-3 for a canine. Flax seed is on the list of ingredients and while it would provide some omega-3 for their stats, again such vegetable sources are not assimilated.
You would also want to make sure that the salmon meal has a licence from the US Coast Guard to ship without ethoxyquin as the preservative. Since there is no mention of this on the website, you would have to ask the company for the info.
While Acana Pacifica is far from perfect, it does have a significantly higher level of omega-3 and all from fish; the added oil is herring oil rather than a vegetable oil.
