Took LULU Belle to the vet today for followup on bee sting....while taking normal vitals the vet noted her heart rate of only 45 bpm...and a slight arrhythmia...after many tears on my part and xray later it is suspected case of dilated cardiomyopathy. He is NOT an expert cardiologist so is referring us to one...she has been fine up until the bee sting and since then she hasn't had any energy or played with her brothers...she plops down by my side and stays there...my little girl...I never ever expected this...she is only 16 months old....he thinks that it was always an underlying issue and the bee sting stressed her system to the point of us noticing and him hearing...the size of her heart is just a little enlarged not grossly...my baby girl...my heart is breaking for her...

Oh no! I truly hope that you get better answers from the cardiologist and that this diagnosis is wrong. Please keep us posted. When do you see the cardiologist?

I'm hopeful, thinking all the meds and mishaps as of late have just got her off her game. Prayers and good thoughts coming from me.

No, we couldn't get in to see the specialist until the 3rd. So we are keeping her quiet as much as possible...she is a puppy still...but really she is being pretty quiet on her own. No walks which she loves until we see the cardiologist. It is hard to look at her and think that something is seriously wrong...she is just such a pretty little girl...love my little Belle...

Good news everyone...Belle had her EKG yesterday and she actually fell asleep while they preformed the test. All looked normal for a puppy her age...there were some increases and decreases but the Vet said it was because of her sleeping pattern...he did hear a slight murmur but again, he attributed that to her sleeping as her heart rate would go up to 98 beats per minute down to 67 beats per minute...he said she is a healthy, happy, crazy newfoundland...he said they are such joys to be around...I couldn't agree more and am so thankful that our Belle is good to go...he did say that with the medication that the emergency vet gave her was probably too strong for her and to make sure if she gets bit or stung again that she isn't given that medication. It really put her into a stupor...
