The boys go for a checkup on Friday, mostly Milo. We are going to discuss his hips/legs. He still won't go up and down the stairs, just 2 in the kitchen and the deck stairs at the Grandparents. He won't get into the car by himself (low riding Lincoln). I have been reading up on Wobbler's and wondered if anyone had any first hand knowledge. Is he too young to x ray for HP, he is 9 months (small; a sickly little runt as a young pup)? My Dad thinks he is partially blind and I think he is partially deaf....maybe he is just ignoring us all.... but my DH says I am in denial, so do the kids. I know he 'is not quite right' but he is sooo cute and lovable. Gentle as a mouse, food just drops out of his mouth when you give him a treat. So wish me luck and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You can certainly do a hip film at this age if you think he has a problem. Just be aware that things can change as he gets older.
Do you think his cognitive problems have anything to do with him not wanting to do stairs? Maybe he can't see them too well and is afraid? Will he do them with you guiding him, or still not at all?
Poor baby boy....He sounds like such a sweet, gentle soul.
Here's hoping the vet can give you some help with making Milo more comfortable...Big hugs for you and your speical boy....

my neighbor just had to put their boxer down because of wobblers. she had been injured as a pup and always limped, but then got to where whe all of a sudden couldnt walk at all (10 yrs of age). they started carrying her to potty and then her front legs went and she couln't stand at all. that was the first I had even heard of wobblers.
I hope everygoes goes well.. we're sending postive energy your way!

Well, we just got back from the vet. Upon a physical examination he thinks there is a good chance it's Wobbler's. The little love bug is going back on Thursday and they are going to sedate him and do x-rays and tests. My vet said if it is not obvious on the film he will burn a copy to CD for me to take to a specialist. This is why I like my vet; he freely admitted that reading x-rays for Wobbler's was not one of his strong points. So we are back to waiting....and he agrees that there is definitely something wrong with Milo....we just have to figure out what. I hope it's not Wobbler's though, not a good thing, especially seeing how he is quite young so it would be severe.

I'm sorry they did find something on the exam. Like you say, though, you have a good vet who is not afraid of telling you he lacks experience in that area. Prayers from us for your sweet boy.

My SIL's now retired 235 lbs English Mastiff developed Wobblers, and is now living with another Mastiff in retirement. Lil Monster was a great big Mellow boy, and I missing visiting with him. If you want to PM me, I will give you the SIL's email and she can tell you what she knows about it.
