"After over 10 years work with the newfoundlanddog-database.net and over one year programming time for these new pages, we are able make visible all data, which had not been seen until now.

This premium membership is a special offer for the lovers of our breed and especially breeders, who are looking for a suitable sire or dam.

Advantages of the premium pages:
- Advanced search for color, age, title, continent, offspring, and different health results.
- Statistics for colors, titles and health results as hips, elbows, shoulders, cystinuria, heart, patella, eyes, thyroid.
- Virtual pedigree of a future mating with numerous statistical functions."

I had a play around for it for a while yesterday and it definitely is a FABULOUS addition. It tremendously helps all breeders in searching for suitable males. Go and try it out.
The "normal" side of the database is still free, only the premium user-side costs a little bit (free until December to try it out). But it definitely is worth every single penny.

I thought the premium site was still 6 Euros through Dec (which is just a little over 6 USD). I haven't tried it yet. I think the regular site is sufficient for me--at least right now. And you're right LA--it's leap years ahead of the NCA version.

I don't know Dee, I paid the full subscription straight away. You should try it out though, I thought the current database couldn't get much better than what it is (and was a little wary of buying the premium user extras), but the premium user account is definitely worth every penny. I can try take some screen-shots of it sometime later this week to show you the possibilities with it.

That'd be great if you could share some screenshots--if not, might do a trial as your comments do make it sound very intriguing! :)

I've always found this database to be very useful with the information that is provided.

I signed up for the trial, which I had to pay for through PP: cost was $8.27. I recvd an email thanking me and it mentioned that I was signed up through Dec for free, but I was still charged. Either way, the 8 bucks is well worth it!! Love the premium features and only hope NCA's database will one day have as much information.

And I have to also mention, they are always pretty quick with updating information!

They are very quick! I think they had Chloe's DD listed within a day or two! Same with her WRD, but they didn't put her WD up until they added her WRD.

My problem with the NCA database is innacuracies and not being kept up to date. Chloe's mom is on there, but they are missing some titles, and Chloe isn't on there at all, despite having three NCA titles and OFA certification. I want to say there was something wrong with one of her brother or sisters information too, but can't remember off the top of my head. I do like that they have the dates titles were earned in their database and owners and breeders names, but I don't know how much I can trust their information as I have found multiple mistakes.

Ok I was wrong! I just checked the NCA database and they must have updated it recently. Chloe is on there finally and her mom's info is all correct. I have been checking for months though (since April this year when she got her DD) and it was just now updated. Her WRD and OFA reults are still not on there, but its a start. She did just get her OFA cert. a couple weeks ago (Good hips and normal elbows!) and her WRD Sept. 11.

I was hoping to breed her either this heat (didn't happen) or in the spring, and would hate for prospective puppy buyers to try to do research using the NCA database as it was. I don't know how many actually would, but Im really happy they finally updated it. Just hope they can get her new titles on there soon!

My understanding (I could be wrong) is that the NCA database only contains dogs with AKC or NCA titles. I hope this will be something that will change with some of the future updates. I know getting a database up and running takes a significant amount of time, especially with trying to go back and including a phenomenal number of generations. Sadly, without all the information from untitled dogs, it makes it difficult to research breeding lines. I do like that NCA includes dates of titles and the owner information. Even with the German database and OFA sites, not all dogs have their information submitted; but there is certainly much more available info on the German database and I like the recent additional information. :)

I notice some of the dogs have pictures. How does one submit pictures for the german database?

Email a photo to postmaster@newfoundlanddog-database.net (Karin Butenhoff, she speaks and writes very good English). Remember to mention the official name and possibly also the registration number, so that it'll be easier for her to match the photo to the correct dog. She usually updates within the next few days, though usually it's by the same evening :).

I think it's best to gather everything to ONE database rather than having several databases with bits and bobs of information. If you see any additional information in any existing databases, do inform Karin. And she's always up for more suggestions (improvements, corrections of mistakes, additions, changes etc.) :).

Do you have to be the breeder in order to add your dog's picture?
No, you just have to own the rights to the photo and either be the owner or the breeder or a close friend or... you get the drift. They don't check who sends them the photos, but please do not send any photos of dogs that aren't yours or that you don't have the permission to post.

Thank you Bettina. I'll send her one of Henry and one of Benson. They are both in there. For some reason, Glory isn't.

You can send info to have Glory inputted. I've done that before to have my newfs put in that aren't in there.
