Hi,

My boyfriend and I rescued a 10 month old Newfoundland/Husky mix when he was almost 8 months. He has the appearance of a Newfie. He is our first dog and it has been the greatest experience having him. We have met other Newfies and Newfie mixes and have fallen in love with the breed! It has been so nice to meet others who also know what a special animal they are!

Nice to meet you and I welcome tips for first time dog owners/Newfie owners.

P.s. I will attach some pictures of him, some from when he is a bit younger and one as recent as yesterday. He is now 90lbs and was 75 when we got him. He was shaved right after we got him due to severe matting and also patchiness from a previous skin infection, however we are aware this isn't something you should do to Newfies and would never consider it in the future.

Welcome...and your little man is precious...I love the freckles on his muzzle...too cute! What is his name?

He is adorable! I am a new newf owner myself and NN has been such an amazing resource for me. I like to use the search tool to browse through old posts and have found them to be really helpful as well. The members are so knowledgeable and supportive here :) Enjoy! And welcome to NN!

Thanks for all the replies everyone! His name is Maylo. He is a rescue from Northern Quebec and his name is Inuit. We don't know what is means but we decided to just keep it.
