Hello all I have a young Newfoundland dog that I have been told is not pure bred. I'm curious to know if he is or not. He was given to us and was at around 4 months of age 63 pounds. His name is Loki and he is black and white the Landseer version if he is. As soon as I can figure out how to add a picture of him I will.

Welcome! I saw your pictures. What a cutie! I have a landseer too. I think the only way to know for sure is possibly the DNA test. But in general, unless you really really want to know, it probably doesn't matter. He obviously has a lot of newfie even if he isn't purebred!

I posted on your other link also...I just love his coloring...and as stated above...he is beautiful and definitely has newfie in him...if he isn't a pure breed. My first newf was a mix with newf and lab. He looked like a brown bear, his name was Dexter...he passed just before his 13 birthday...no dog could have been loved more than him...he was the reason we ended up with 2 more newfs. He was almost perfect to us...and we miss him so much...so just forget about if he is pure or not...you love him and he loves you...that is all that matters!
