My boy Zeke

I have my boy back, he's his normal self again!!!!! We started him on dog aspirin about a week ago and everyone in the house has been commenting how normal he is now. My question is does aspirin do for dogs, what aspirin does for humans?

And......we crossed the road today (without my phone) and I knew he was fine, he's also going up the steps easier. I'm still bribing him with a meatball and I know he's suckering me but at his age, I'm perfectly fine with that!

I'm late on the dogs annuals this year, so I know we (vet & I) will have a discussion about things cause I've already mentioned that it's probably time we started him on something for pain. He mentioned a new drug called galliprant. Anyone have any experience with it? It just got approved here in the US and has been used overseas for many years, he said. I told him I'd do my research on it, but I am really liking the overall results I'm seeing with the dog aspirin.

Oh that is good news! So happy he's doing better. Wish I knew something about the galliprant to help you, but know you will research it.

Welcome back Zeke! And don't be too strict with your mom. It's not fair to manipulate her. Well...maybe a little.

I put my Hannah on Galliprant when she was dying with the hemangiosarcoma. It was kind of a last resort med for her when other things stopped helping her. They worked very well for her. At almost $6 a pill, they needed to.
If you decide to go that route see if your vet will write you a script so you can order them....They're cheaper that way.
Glad to hear Zeke has perked up!

We use Galliprant for our 8 yr old Lab who has had 2 TPLO surgeries and has a lot of arthritis. We are trying a cocktail approach to manage his pain. He gets Galliprant as a NSAID, gabapentin for nerve pain and tramadol (opioid) at night to help him sleep. He is tolerating the Galliprant where he wasn't tolerating other NSAID's.
