OK guys, I have been worrying (no comment from you Rich). I know that alot of your dogs have all these awards for obedience and training and therapy and such. Well, let me prepare ya'll for NEWMAN!

He has been through ob school and everything, but he now doesn't know his name. It's not that I'm a bad mom, but Newman has been through so much (5 surgeries and such) that I have pretty much spoiled him rotten.

So I'm apologizing now for Newman....stolen food, spilled drinks, slobber on your face, etc. He doesn't mean any harm, he just thinks that it's everyone's goal in life to make him happy

HUMMM....that sounds just like my Sam. Don't worry, we all love newfs and we are use to slobber, stolen food, spilled drinks and making our newfs happy. So he should be just fine

Hmmmmmmmmmm...sounds a lot like Emmy! Although, Emmy definitely knows her name; she just chooses not to hear it around people and other dogs. :D Newman will be in good company.

Samantha has selective hearing too. But rattle the oreo jar and she is 100% hearing.

Oh, Newman definitely knows his name when you whisper, "Newman, ready to go to school?" (all 3 boys ride to take my son to school) or "Newman, want a treat?" or "Snowman poop!!!" (our codeword for marshmallows :D ...the boys love them!!) But he doesn't have a clue if he is doing something bad and you are yelling his name.

Newman is so lovable, but is definitely a handful. Collins and Indy are like angels in contrast to him.

tsk tsk tsk...

Many of you have yet to meet Kira, and when you do.................................

You'll be able to say you've heard a yodeling, caterwalling, slightly insane Newfie wild child!

Do you think I'm exaggerating??? There are many here who can back me up!

Right now, Maggie girl obeys for cheese, biscuits, or peanut butter. The rest of the time, she is guilty of the "selective listening" behavior. I'm signing her to take classes soon, so that she will (hopefully) be a "model citizen" for the parade and picnic!

Annie,
Did Russell tell you how Newman sat on the couch with him when he brought Indy? Like a real person sits on the couch. It is hilarious.

I feel soooo much better now. Alone, or 'in house', Bubba listens no problem. (especially for treats). Outdoors he too knows his name, but chooses whether to listen to me or whatever else interesting is going on around him.
