Thanks for all the good thoughts everyone. Sorry I've been AWOL. NewfDad forgot to mention this happened on the morning my parents were coming in from out of town with very little notice.
Moose started yesterday to bear weight on his leg. He's still limping badly but is using the leg now.
For now he's on a higher dose of prednisone and a pain killer tramadol.
If we can get his new injury to heal up so he's fairly comfortable we won't do surgery. He'll only be good for walking short distances but for him it may be the best answer. In addition to his age being a factor, the major consideration is his Addison's disease. Major stresses like surgery are not a good combination with Addison's.
He has to take some prednisone to keep the Addison's under control. However, prednisone makes them more likely to blow out their ACL.
Moose and Kimber did start swimming at an indoor facility this week. They were going to go last week but Moose blew his ACL and I was running around getting x-rays etc. For at least a couple of weeks, Moose will be splashing around in the water rather than swimming laps. However, I had to tie him up to keep him from trying to swim the laps with Kimber.
Moose has also started to do his roll around and scratch at the floor antics again so I think he's feeling better.
