I am a sucker for kids books and these 3 titles in an old series is for 5-8 yr olds, but I found them whimsical and charming and love them. They are in either English or French editions, but if you've even had high school French they're simple to read. The illustrations are comical and author Phillip Dumas captures perfectly the antics of a growing Newf puppy. The books are: Laura, Alice's New Puppy (or Laura, le terre-neuve d'Alice); Laura Loses Her Head (or Laura perd la tete);and Laura and the Bandits (Laura et les bandits). If you have a youngster who would love to laugh at the antics of a growing, clumsy but ultimately heroic Newf puppy, hope you find these on ebay or Amazon. You won't be disappointed. To paraphrase the first book, "if Alice's grandmother had not given Alice a Newf puppy, the ending of this story may have been very different."
