Just curious...

I've been reading on the Newf standard and there are some terms regarding the gait that I'm not familiar with: </font>
  • mincing </font>
  • crabbing </font>
  • too close moving </font>
  • weaving </font>
  • crossing over in front </font>
  • toeing-out or distincly toeing-in in front </font>
  • hackney action </font>
  • pacing</font>
Does anyone know where I could find an explanation of what these terms mean  .
TIA,
Laurie

Are these words used in the Canadian standard - I didn't remember then in the US standard and just looked at on the NCA site and I don't see those terms used

Thanks Janice.
Joan, actually these are gait faults I found in the NCA guide to breed standard (on their website) but the canadian standard lists these same faults.

If you are not sure what hackney is, watch the min pin ring, they are known hackney gaiters!
pacing is when the legs on the left side follow each othersame for the right side, gaiting is where the legs on the same side meet each other
to close, well the newf should reach and drive, i guess i am not sure how to explain it in words well, maybe someone else can, but i would compare to close to that of a chow body type......
