Jorah update

Rachel and I are going to give the chemo a try with Jorah. Fortunately, we'll be able to do it completely through our vet office! Our vet has already ordered the meds, (I think he knew what our decision was going to be before we did. ;) ) We are going to take this one day at time and see how she responds. She has a tumor near the joint of her back right leg that is causing her some pain right now. We switched to a different pain med, but one of the signs the chemo is working will be if her lameness decreases and the tumor shrinks. (The disease is in other places too, but her back leg is the only spot causing her pain.)

If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free!

Just something to keep in mind. We had a Labrador who was 13 1/2 years old and was diagnosed with multiple cancers and not expected to live out the month. One tumor on her spleen was the size of a softball. She lasted 18 months longer. While this was wonderful for us, it was not hard to tell when her time was up as she went downhill really fast. So I would say be aware and follow your gut. Moonlight was given a few days but lasted a month. So I would say that you should enjoy every moment.

Wishing you the best. We have something in common besides our love for the breed. Both our newfs are going through chemo. Rocky is about to get dose number 4. He is responding well so far. :)

Glad you are able to do the chemo at your vet. My mom's dog did very well with the treatments. I pray Jorah does too!
