Jake and pancakes

Hi, Jake seems to love pancakes, everytime I heat some up for my son he goes nuts, is it ok if I give him a little of some of the frozen one just to give my son a break LOL.

Give him some to give your son a break??? You will not be giving anyone a break except Jake. Once you give in he will expect it all the time. So you need to decide now if you want to eat all the meals the rest of your life with or without a newfie setting close by drooling--even when you have guest!!

Not only that but people food is not good for dogs and growing puppies. Granted we all give in once in a while.....

Just give yourself a break in the long run. dont start feeding him people food ever especially when you are eating. You will start something that will be hard to break .Tuggs is allowed to stay in the dinning room when we eat BUT i always put him in the lay position until we are fineshed. that means no barking also. Then when we are fineshed with our meal he gets a special treat like a ground chuck block out of the freezer, that we put into icecub trays.

We've always gave both our Newf and our Rott/Chow people food. While I'm chopping-up food in the kitchen I'll throw the scrapes to them or in their dish etc, and we'll give them the scrapes after we eat. They do not beg. They never approach us when we eat.

Actually Jake is much better about this now. When we are at the dinner table he will sit and look at us for about one minute and then lays under the table and we don't hear a peep out of him. He doesn't bother my son anymore, at times he will sit there and stare at him with those big brown eyes saying pretty please drop a piece LOL, but that is the only time he gets anything.
