Our beautiful goofy loving sweet boy died in such a horrific way. He died at 12:30 am of bloat. Never in a million years did I think he would leave us so soon and because of bloat. We took him to the emergency vet but by the time we got there he was almost gone. 5 minutes later he was. I won’t subject you to the awful details but it was so awful and so incredibly sad. I can’t bring myself to forget the images in my head or my heart. I love that boy so much! He was my boy and he would never leave my side...I can’t tell you the hole he has left in my heart and life! Please give your babies the hugs from us as one of ours is missing those hugs!

I'm so sorry you and Jake had to suffer such a traumatic and tragic loss. There are really no words of comfort that I can offer other than to say that I know you gave him the best life that a dog can ever have. Please know that we are thinking of you and sending heaps of healing thoughts your way.

Have a peaceful and speedy journey, Jake. There are lots of sweet Newfs awaiting your arrival. Run free forever young man.

So very sorry :( so many things in life that should never be experienced. I pray the good times that you all have enjoyed over the years out weigh the experience by 10 fold. When they leave they take such a big part of us.

It’s just so hard...took the other doggies out to play and found Jakes toy lying in the snow...broke down and had to come inside...I don’t know if I will recover from this!

I think in time you will recover but you will probably wonder forever, like me with Nicholas, if one of the other dogs is going to bloat, it's always at the back of my mind and it's been 5 years since Nicholas went. It's such an awful thing to happen and with no warning and if you are like me you will wonder why it happened, what was different that day etc etc.

Yes, exactly! How can you watch them 24/7? I don’t understand what was different if anything! And yes, please god don’t let this ever ever happen again! It really is the worst thing to have happen to our fur Kids! So helpless and well you know!

I'm sorry to hear such a tragic event took Jake. Soon, you will remember the happy times and smile at those memories. About a week after I lost Panda I went out to clean up poop. I cried because her spot in the yard didn't have any poop.

I too lost my first Newf, Angus to this at age 2. As Angel (and my vet) told me you will never forget him and you'll probably never look at your dogs in the same way, always alert to it happening again. As it happened, that's exactly what happened a couple of years later. I KNEW something was wrong with Gracie but unsure. I rushed her to emergency vet and indeed, she was in the early stages. we saved her life. I hope you never have to experience this again. My heart goes out to you in your pain.
