Is there a natural or homeopathic safe ear wash you can make?

I think my baloo bear has some funk going on in his ears since he was swimming in the river. It smells like cheese nips. I'm just guessing yeasties?? His vet won't be back for a few days but he is itching the inside of his ears and he is letting clean them with a chlorhexidine based solution and likes it but still brown waxy gunk and stink his normal wash is from my vet only so... and thoughts would be greatly appreciated

You can get an enzyme solution from the Vet ... or online called Zymox. It's what's worked best for us and ours swim every day, most of the day.

It comes in two types, with and without cortisone. For our Golden, Sasha, who gets one gunky ear after another, it's been fantastic.

We used the kind with cortisone when she had rampant infections ... before we knew she was allergic to wheat and even one string of spaghetti would cause a raging infection. But, if there's no pain, no inflammation...the regular is great for cleaning out.

It's a small bottle, you only need a few drops, and is about $13.

Donna, thank you so much I am going to give it a whirl. Really since we cut out wheat he hasn't had any ear problems too:) He will let me use the dryer to blow his ears dry after he swims so I think your right on with the solution:) He loves the water so and it is on the missouri river and he would be heartbroken if we couldn't go almost every evening. I'm sure the water isn't always the cleanest either hehehe:) I'm going online and ordering some asap--thanks again, I really enjoy reading your posts in this forum, you always seem to have researched things very well and they are so informative and have helped me many times with my BalooBear and when he is happy boy there is no sweeter boy.

Thanks Again
talk to you again I'm sure hehe

Baloo says thanks too!
