Incontinence questions again

Hi terri, while Tug is on the meds and is drinking more then I would treat him rather like an overgrown pup and at least every four hours get up to take him out whether he wants to or not,

Beau went throught he same problem while he was on his steroids and every two hours up and out otherwise we ended up with large accidents though bless him he did try to let us know

Terri I'm sorry to hear that. Yes of course he will be miserable for having an accident. Times that Bria had an accident (poo) she looked like she wanted to hide. The good news is that this will all be over soon. Obviously if he's drinking more he will pee and at night may not be able to control it. I don't think this will start a pattern for future. Once he finished all meds he should be right as rain as they say.

Good luck,

Susan

Poor things, having to go through that :( I think it comes as a surprise to him, too; he's wet on one side (like it happened while he was sleeping) and anxious to go outside NOW! He didn't do it today (I with held his morning anti-biotics). I'll give them to him tonight and see what happens. If worse comes to worse I'll get them to give him different ones.

Terri you said he's finished one of the meds already and the other will be finished tonight or tomorrow night? I'm not sure if you posted the meds last night or today. Why will he need more meds for you to possibly change them? You know I've treated infection with Tea Tree Oil which has a natural antiseptic in it. I don't know how bad his nail was but for future consideration at the first sign of a rip, scratch, bump etc... Tea Tree Oil works like a charm.

Hi Susan,
Yup, very aware of Tea Tree Oil / Melaluca :)
There was no sign of a rip or tear; just him displaying pain and not putting weight on the paw. They think the nail bed was broken within the toe. Too far gone for homeopathic aid; which would have been my first choice of treatment.
He's got 3 days of Anti-Biotics left, I misjudged, but is done the anti-inflammatory.
He seems to be better today/tonight after I've halved his anit-b. dose (Vet approved). Had a small accident while sleeping, but isn't drinking near as much. But the Vet still says it can't be the meds. If he doesn't improve by the time all the meds are done, he'll be having blood tests.

Terri maybe just a urine test is needed. Perhaps there is a slight infection that just happened to coincide with the start of meds. It is possible the two are unrelated.

I love holistic when and if it can be done. In Tug's case of course not or at least not this time.

Good luck

Susan
