I made THAT decision today

Bouvet Bonita CD (Bridget)
I did what every pet owner dreads, I had to let my beutiful old girl go to where she can run and play with her friends.
Bridget was 12 years 2 months old and could no longer manage to get around, she was smiling and wagging her tail til the end that was the sort of newf she was, nothing ever worried her.
I belonged to her from the time I bought her home at 8 weeks old.
She gained her CD title in just 4 trials, the first trial she was in she won the ring but didn't quite get a pass, unfortunately because of hip problems she couldn't do jumps otherwise I am sure she could of gained more titles.
Just a couple of things I would like to share about Bridget...When I first got Bridget I had a rotti as well and they became the best of friends, one day they got out when I left the gate open of course they were nowhere to be seen. I called a friend who was a policeman, he was in the patrol car on duty at the time, he stopped whatever he was doing and went looking for them, about half an hour later the cop car turns into my drive with 2 wet and muddy dogs sitting in the back seat with big grins on their face.
We tried breeding with Bridget but unfortunately she had to have a ceaserean and only produced one stillborn pup, the thing I remember about that time is when Bridget felt it was time to give birth we took her to where the whelping box was and tried to get her in it but she had noticed a cardboard box about 2 foot square and managed to climb into it and that was where she wanted to have her babies.
Hope you all don't mind me sharing some of my memories, but it helps me get thru this time.

Oh, Neil!
Your heart must be shattered!

Bridget will always be that "Beautiful Girl" of yours....the one that, obviously, got you to be so "in tune" with Newfs.

I thank you for sharing her and her story. God gave you a gift....you accepted it...you unwrapped it....loved it for all it was worth...and kept it close to your heart...just the way He planned it....never expecting more from her, than what she could give. I feel sure, He will reward you GREATLY for that.

God bless you, Neil!

I'm sure she's already got all the titles she could ever have, by now.
The Rainbow Bridge must be a beautiful place.

Hi Neil,
I am truely sorry for your loss. Your sweet girl had many more titles in your heart than the ones you listed! She had the ultimate title of BIH or what I call BEST IN HEART. You made the most compassionate decision for her, and one of the worst a pet parent has to make. Know that she is pain free and feeling like a pup again. I know that my Oji who waits for me at the bridge was there to welcome her. He also has a possibility of a NEWF girlfriend! Thanks for sharing your endearing story and honoring her life. BLESS YOU.

Neil,
What a beautiful old gal! My heart hurts for your loss but what a lucky man to have been in her life all these years and her in yours! I'm sure she is running and playing like a pup and will be there for you someday too.
