...any longer; I miss having a Newf.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but I want to prematurely introduce my new boy, Frank!!!

He is a breeder re-home and he's magnificent. He's a 7 year old (soon to be neutered) Landseer, has his CH, and I hope to add some more letters behind his name.

I won't have him until after Nationals, though. So probably mid May. I can't wait!

I am so happy for you. He looks gorgeous, is he going to the National?
Looking forward to lots of stories.

No, he's staying home and getting neutered. Poor guy.
At least he won't blame me for that. Hope to have lots of photos in the future.

Thanks guys! I have the feeling he's going to be a silly guy like Hugo was. Lots of fun, but some work too. He's mainly been a kennel dog, although he does go in the house on occasion. Housebroken, but may mark. I understand he is a counter surfer, but respectful of the house otherwise. Do-able stuff, but we will have some work to do. Guess my kitchen will stay cleaner. LOL.

Breeder says he is incredibly sweet, with great dog and people social skills. But he is obsessed with his rubber chicken. Carries it everywhere, drops it in his food bowl and eats around it, presents it to everyone who comes by, and is not possessive of it. He will share it, but the other dogs tear up his chicken. Then he has to have a new one. I ordered 4 more chickens for him, so I'll have spares in case one dies a horrible death.

He certainly will be a lot different than dear Spirit who could do no wrong. And I actually do hope he's more like Hugo. I would like to do some fun stuff with him. Don't know if he has any obedience skills, but breeder thinks he is really smart and would love things like Rally. Also could show him in Veterans classes since he is 7 years old. We'll just have to see if he swims or would like draft work. I doubt that he's ever seen a lake or a cart.

It's all about making him a happy companion, finding out what he enjoys doing, and going in that direction. I won't get too many years with him, but that's OK. We'll wreak as much havoc as we can and have a blast doing it.

Congratulations Jane! I'm so happy for you. I understand completely. When my dear Hannah passed the thought of being newfless was just too much.
Frank is gorgeous. I am sure you will have him up to par manners wise in no time.
And we have one of those rubber chickens too! Zoey sleeps with it every night...And I also have backup stashed in the kitchen cabinet...:)

Jane don't think he cannot do drafting because he is 7. Sara got her DD at age 10! Panda was 7 we when got her and she got her DD at age 8. Sometimes I think the when they are older and introduced to carting they learn quickly.

Cannot wait to see all the fun stuff you will introduce to him. He is going to like his new life.

HIs breeder says he acts like a 2 year old, so I have a feeling that it will be harder for me to do all the things I want to do with him. I'm nearly 70 years old, fat and slow. Need to get in better shape. Hope Frank is up to the task of training ME! LOL.

But I have all the gear: carts, water rescue stuff, grooming tools, etc. ready to pull out of storage. I'm ready to get to work!

Oddly enough, I hope he is full of mischief, so I'll keep on my toes. Hugo taught me more about being aware of my surroundings and anticipating stuff, than any other dog. I've fallen out of practice, so need a refresher course.

Time to engage my brain! LOL

I am so happy for you. Being Newfless is the worst, but I don't think we're up to it right now. If I knew we would be staying at this house I would go for a Frank. Enjoy him completely. Again, I am so happy for you.

Here's one of Frank getting all spiffied up for me. He's getting neutered on Tuesday.

Will have to fix that sloppy sit. LOL. Only an obedience person would notice that. hahaha
