Remove film from box and load camera.

Remove film box from puppy's mouth
and throw in trash.

Remove puppy from trash
and brush coffee grounds from muzzle.

Choose a suitable background for photo.

Mount camera on tripod and focus.

Find puppy and take dirty sock from mouth.

Place puppy in pre-focused spot
and return to camera.

Forget about spot and crawl after puppy on knees.

Focus with one hand
and fend off puppy with other hand.

Get tissue and clean nose print from lens

Take flash cube from puppy's mouth
and throw in trash.

Put cat outside and put peroxide
on the scratch on puppy's nose.

Put magazines back on coffee table.

Try to get puppy's attention
by squeaking toy over your head.

Replace your glasses and check camera for damage.

Jump up in time to grab puppy
by scruff of neck and say,
"No, outside! No, outside!"

Call spouse to clean up mess.

Fix a drink.

Sit back in Lazy Boy with drink
and resolve to teach puppy "sit" and "stay"
the first thing in the morning.

Kanela you had me laughing!! So many things you wrote have happened with me trying to take Kodi's pic. Love the flag picture. My guy would have thought the stick was to chew on. I've tried the sit stay good dog routine, but he ends up putting his ears back and looks goofy. Thanks again, for the great instructions

*LOL* Kanela, reading your "how to photograph..." made me feel like I was having an out of body experience!!! Those pics that I managed to post were just a small few out of dozens of attempts to capture Suki on digital film! She'd be posing perfectly for a pic, or she'd be doin' something really weird, and I'd rush to get my camera...and as soon as I'd take the lens cap off, she'd rush over to me to check it out!

I love the shot of Nani and the flag! Greg and I are working together to figure out just where we'll want to position that image on our QUILT.

Thanks for the hilarious "how to"!!!

Such a cute patriotic photo. If you think getting a photo of a puppy is hard--try THREE newfs at once!!

Jeannie, I know exactly what you mean! It's next to impossible to get a picture of all 3 of my dogs unless they're sleeping! Get them together and Quark starts playing with Morgan's ears, Morgan grabs onto Quarks "lips" and hangs on. By the time I get them separated, Quark decides it's time to bother Frank by putting a paw on her back. Now this would make an adorable picture, but Frank hates it so she starts growling and bares her teeth. Not a pretty picture! Then kitty runs by and all is lost. Back to sleeping newfs photos!

Kanelak, that is an absolutely adorable picture of Nani! What a gorgeous little girl. And she's growing so fast! Yesterday I was looking at a picture of Quark the first day we brought him home. I think there must have been something wrong with my camera back in July. No way was he ever that small!

What a great Pic!! If she hasn't mastered the sit/stay, she sure has the carry down!

God Bless America and all the silly creatures in it!

The only shots I can get of my 3 are when the puppy is attacking Angus and Mowgli is in the background barking. I've not posted them since they look so sinister. Jeannie, you are SO correct... I always had a hard time getting shots of the 2 let alone the 3 of them.

I would love to shoot with my 35mm camera, just as soon as I would get the lens cap off, the puppy moves to come check me out to see what I am doing. I have learned to keep the digital camera at the ready and staged throughout the house for THAT moment.

PS Mudji has learned about socks today.... I guess the dirty laundry will be next..

Carrie, here's how Nani's "training" on how to be a good photo subject goes:

I hold the baby

Hubby gets camera ready

I let her go and jump out of the picture.
