How Many Calories Does He Need

Hi guys does anyone know how many calories a day a fully grown neutered Newf male, with ED and low activity levels would need!!?? Fairly open ended question I know but the food we have him on right now only delivers about 110 calories per 100g and we feed him 1000g per day so that’s only 1100 calories per day which does not seem much.

Any help appreciated

Mine get approximately 1100 to 1500 per day if you include treats/snacks and neither one is skinny. I know it seems like a small amount, but with low activity level and joint issues, it's far better to be on the slim side. Just monitor their weight on a regular basis and increase or decrease as needed.

thanks we had him on our own BARF and were feeding him 1kg per day, then he got fat and we switched him to this pre made BARF. the bag said .75kg per day for a xtra large dog but that seemed too little so we kept him on 1kg and assumed the packaged stuff would have more veg and moisture than the mostly meat we were feeding.

he's lost a good deal of weight (approx 9lbs) in over a month and is on his way to a healthy weight again. hes acting hungrier so it seems our theory of 1kg homemade barf is a lot more than 1kg of premade.

we then were worried if it was even enough so we asked the question of the manufacturers and they said they are working on new feeding guidlines but that they would be recommending 2kg per day. that sounded mad so i asked the calorie content and they said approx 110 to 120 per 100g which is 1100 cal per day.

we want him back to a healthy weight but not going in the opposite direction either. at the same time this prepackaged stuff wouldn't be financially viable if we had to double the quantity we are now feeding
