Hoping for pups

We took Mojo to the repro vet to test his sperm count and motility today. When I called the bitch owner, I heard, "OMG she has ovulated". Note this is 4 days after a 0.3 progesterone reading. So 1,520,000/ml went down the drain as a test and I have to go back inside to tell the vet we need a chilled specimen ASAP.. I, of course have to wait 2 hours for Mojo to "recuperate". Finally go back and "do the deed" again. Mojo is overjoyed, of course. This time, the count is 2,000,000/ml with 80% motility and only 4% abnormal. The vet said this is the first time she has had a dog draw more on the 2nd attempt. WTG Mojo. First chill fedexed to bitch for insertion tomorrow. Going back to repo vet tomorrow to fedex the 2nd dose. Hope we catch this. Hoping for a litter of brown puppies in Oct.:icon_bb:

Wow Niki...How exciting ! remember, the seman lives in the uterus for quite a while. The second dose would be for volumn more than anything.

Thank you Heather.
Julie, hopefully it takes. Last Thurs. her Progesterone was only 0.3 and 4 days later it shows she is ovulating. Fast. Hope we catch 2 of the 4 days.

LOL last litter he produced 8 pups (4 girls and 4 boys) So I think he is Michael Phelps, at least I hope so, but with so many tadpoles to swim, I think we have a good chance even if a few are Joe Frazier:icon_lamer:

IT will probably depend more on how the bitch ovulates than on Mojo's swimmers...You know he is potent..

Thank you, Anita and Melissa.
Julie, she ovulated, probably Monday, so today the first chill will be day 3 and tomorrow's day 4.

Today's specimen was only 500,000, but the motility was up to 90%.
Go Mojo

Thanks everyone for your wishes for a great litter

I have the paper it was 2.0 10 to the 6th/ml that should be 2,000,000/ml but the motility is more important to the bitch's vet. first batch 80% second batch 90% lots of viable tadpoles

The normal canine sperm count is between 200 million and 2 billion. Your boys sperm count is very low. I would have a repro work-up done on him if this was one of my dogs. With counts that low I would have recommended an implant, good motility or not.
I hope it works for you!

Renee..the way I read it she is doing a measure of seman by ML....(cc ?) and looking at mobility...as opposed to seman count.....I could be wrong of course.
