So, you see? To some they are a luxury and to others a blessing.
You sound like you have a huge heart. Good for you..I hope you find the things you search for.

Alicia, do you have any pictures of the inside of your house? My mentor gave my daughter one, and we stripped it, repapered, floored and ceilinged, then furnished it. I'll send you some photos. My son just picked one up at a yard sale, the owner's g-father had made it for her, but since she only had sons, she figured they'd never use it. So MY son bought it (with his entire savings), stripped ans painted the outside, and is hoping for the lighting, wallpaper and such for the interior as Christmas gifts. If I can get some pictures of it, I'll send them along, too. I have to admit, it is a very addicting hobby, all those cute minature things to put inside!!! Yours is beautiful I love the Christmas decorations.
I will take some pictures but it will have to wait till I can turn it around after the holidays. Right now it is on a large table with the back of it up against a wall. The table is going to be used for a Christmas eve buffet with 40 of my family members that are stopping by. (I have 8 siblings) The dollhouse looks so nice all lit up as a decoration for the get together. The hard part is some of the little kids want to play with it so I have it pushed way back on the table. The inside is a a definite work in progress but I don't mind sharing. I would love to see pics of your daughter's and son's houses.:) I have loved reading about and seeing pics of everyone's hobbies. We have some very talented people here.

BUMP: Originally posted way back in 2008!! For some of the newer members.....any interesting hobbies? I also realize I never took inside pictures of the dollhouse but it will have to wait once again because the front porch is decorated and on display for the holidays.

lately my hobby has been trying to finish my basement. Much skyping with the father that lives 14 hours away and to quote the guy i'm seeing "you might want to stick to needle work". It's slow going, but dad said i'll either bet good at puttying or sanding. :) I also do a lot of cross stitch, I'm trying to make some newf bibs and dog bed covers that will fit on a crib mattress.

LOL... I dabble, in just about everything..

Mostly I cook, working on home renos (although that's a full time job right now), I blog, I write, I read, I sew, I'm really starting to get interested in woodworking, I garden (flowers and veg), I knit and crochet and quilt, I love photography and graphic arts, and doing what we can to help a local animal rescue group, and painting and James has this big laser thing he likes to play with.....

We're just your basic DIY folks (and call it 'sustainable living' to make it sound all cool and stuff)

Hi
I really enjoyed reading everything else that everyone else is doing. I love to quilt but I've only been at this for about 6 years. I do canine and equine massage. I've always loved gardening and now that we live out in the country I can really indulge this sweet tooth. I have a big, varied collection of music and old movies.
Sadly, my spare time is very limited so I don't get to do too much of any of the above but I squeeze it in when I need it ;)

Here's just a few of my wood projects. Can't post them all since I would take up a page myself.
Hope you enjoy my work as much as I do!!
One of my favorites!

Cedar flower box for a Newf Friend. Morgan hanging out.

Picture frame with cut outs was a birthday gift to myself!

These are just a few of my many talents.

I paint, but not very well! I still enjoy it though.

& I like to make random things out of recycling I find on my street, garage, etc. I made this toy box for Molly out of some felt I found & a cardboard box out of my garage. Sadly, we don't have it anymore because one of my cats decided to pee in it.

Well, I don't have a whole lot of talent or time these day but I am the type of person that will have a go at it (and sometimes learn my lesson-lol) One year after we moved into our home I saw these decorations for Thanksgiving that I wanted in a catalog, I think they wanted $80 a piece for them...I needed two. So I went to the local craft store and bought stuff to make them myself, here is the outcome!

In the end it probably cost me the same, but at least I had fun doing it.

Just looked through these again because someone on facebook has a doll house and I wanted to show her my pics and knew I had them here. Just wondering if anyone has anymore hobby pics to share? I enjoy looking at the wide variety of interests and talents everyone has.

This is a fun thread! Some great things here.

Lately I have sewed historical, elizabethan era costumes.

Also felt books for kids.

I also sew princess costumes for my little one. They are all on flick too. Elsa and Anna are the current favourites for my daughter but I like the rapunzel and Snow White attempts.

Here is Snow White

Gee, I don't think I ever saw this thread.

I have recently resurrected an old Parker 51 fountain pen and I'm doing a Gratitude Journal with it. I also bought a fountain pen for a written journal and one with waterproof ink for an art journal.

I'm doing weekly art journalling with two friends. One of these days I'll tackle pet portraits.

I sew and quilt, embroider, do simple bookbinding, make jewellery, bead embroidery. I have three dollhouses and some dolls I sew and knit for. I make kits for the dollhouses although haven't done much with them since the store I used to go to closed.

I collect card decks of various sorts and postcards. I used to weave with a rigid heddle loom but haven't recently. I used to knit more too but have arm problems.

I used to like gardening but I have some issues with chronic pain so not so much. I do take the dogs out with me and sketch in the garden though.

Most everything I do is dog related somehow. My big thing other than dogs right now is photography. ...And I'm the photographer for the CNC and travel to most of their events taking pictures.

I have just recently developed some orthopedic issues (back and both knees) so its hard to say when I am going to have to find new hobbies.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I'm into cars. Saw the picture of the 928 and was reminded. Unfortunately, with the Newf thing, most of the cars that I am "into" right now are high powered, European station wagons. You guessed it! To haul the dogs!

I do photography and run. You've all seen some of my photos. This weekend I am running a half marathon 13.1 miles in Columbus OH.
