Interesting read, but unfortunately with any study, you need to look at the funding and who conducted the study. Last sentence in the article:

Smith, who is the inventor, and the University of Pennsylvania, which holds the patent, have a financial interest in the PennHIP method.

The study mentions human HD, and how canine research might be valuable. Diet is mentioned for humans, but not mentioned for canines. Diet and exercise, along with genetics, all contribute to HD. And there was no mention about the years and money poured into discovering a genetic marker. None has been found, to my knowledge.
I feel the article was not balanced.
