Hi old friends

Jane and Frank here. I got some "bummer" (pun intended) news at the beginning of the year. Rectal cancer. Did chemo-radiation for 5 weeks, no big deal. Didn't feel sick or lose my hair. Just ruined my sense of taste for a while.

Just got home Wed from colorectal surgery. Had to get a colostomy, but again, no big deal. I'm walking and motivating just fine.

But the amazing thing is how nurturing Frank has been. He hasn't let me out of his sight since this began. Checking on me frequently to make sure he's still gonna get fed and let out on time no doubt. LOL. Seriously he is just the best nurse and I'm finding out he makes a pretty good mobility dog too. He inspected my walker yesterday to make sure the legs were latched and if I need to use him to stand (some tummy tenderness still) he braces so I can lean my weight on him. What a special boy and what a lucky girl that he came into my life when I needed him most.

He's what has kept me traveling this new path and staying in the right frame of mind.

There is nothing like a Newf Nurse. Hahaha

Oh, And now, ROTFLOL, the term "bring poop bags" has an entirely new meaning.

I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Hope the treatments work for you. Keep up your sense of humor. It goes a long way in healing.

Glad Frank is there to nurse you back to health. When I had my cancer Chase decided she was my nurse. Every once in awhile she would come over and stick her nose in my face. If I didn't respond she would bark...loudly in my ear. The only problem was if I didn't respond I was asleep. I had to peel myself off the ceiling many times. Love and miss that old girl.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Oh no Jane, that sucks but you have a fantastic attitude and the best nurse in the world and I pray that you continue to do well. Keep in touch.

Frank does the exact same thing. If I nap on the couch or recliner he has to barely brush my face with his fuzzy muzzle. Believe me, I respond quickly. When I let him out to pee, he insists that I stay within sight. Otherwise he won't do his business. But that's good, because it forces me to walk more and get stronger. See how attentive he is to my needs?! hahahaha

Doing great guys. Better each day. Hope to be able to attend HANC water trials on Labor Day weekend. But for now I'm not supposed to drive. Feel like a racehorse in the starting gate. Anxious to get back on track. But all in due time. Thanks for asking.

Frank is great too. So patient and loving. Of all my Newfs, he's the one that's perfect for me right now. I feel a bit guilty that he isn't getting as much fun time as he deserves, but it's too hot out anyway. He seems happy enough dozing on the cool tile.

So that's about all for now. Hanging in there. Could be LOTS worse. Thankful for every good moment I have which is the majority of the time. YAY!

Hi Jane! Sorry to hear of you diagnosis. Glad you seem to be on the mend!

I haven't visited this site lately as I thought it was closing down. And I have nigh on to NO comprehension as to this tech stuff! I probably don't even qualify for Dummies 101!
