Hello everyone!

I have been reading threads on Newf.Net for awhile now and thought it was about time I introduced myself.

My sister and I own five wonderful Newfies in central PA. If you will indulge me for a moment, I would love to tell you guys a little about each.

Malka just turned five years old. She is all black, except for a little white patch on her chest. She is sweet, gentle, eager to please, and very athletic. She loves to chase tennis balls, second only to swimming after them, run, and jump over things. She hates chipmunks and valiantly defends us against the evil invaders. ;)

Thea is four years old and is our brown girl. She is very dignified and our most reserved Newfie, but once you're in with her you are in. She only gives kisses to a few select people and does not like to chase balls. She is our lifeguard of the group and if there are children in the water she makes sure she is in between them and the deeper water.

Jorah is all black and three weeks younger than Thea. She is... how to put this? Adorable and makes us smile, but rather lacking in brain cells. ;) She is the most exuberant of our pack and thinks that everyone was put on earth to love her. She never lost a lot of that puppy inquisitiveness and still gets into all sorts of trouble.

Coulson, all black, was our first experience with rescue. We have had him now for a year and 3/4 now. To be perfectly honest we didn't realize all that we were getting into when we adopted him. He is a story all by himself, but to be brief: he was taken from a local farm, along with an Alaskan Malamute, after being tied up outside for the first six years of his life. When the local rescue took him in he was a good 30 lbs. underweight, had severe ear infections, (they thought it might be cancer at first it was so bad), filthy, matted, and completely withdrawn. He is now a very healthy 103 lbs and a completely different dog! (Yes, he is tiny for a Newf. We did have to work on a serious dog aggression issue that cropped up eight months after we got him, again that's another story, but he is doing marvelously now!) He learned how to play over time and Malka is his favorite playmate. Squeaky tennis balls bring great joy, as do his daily walks. He has some odd quirks that will probably never go away, and he has moderately/severe separation anxiety, but it is slowly improving as time goes by. He has brought such joy to our lives and we are so grateful we can give him all the love he deserves.

Last but not least, C.K. Dexter Haven. (Anyone seen the Philadelphia Story?) He is our other rescue and his background is much different than Coulson's. (He made us realize that Coulson was not really a standard adoption case and the abuse our poor little guy must have suffered.) We have had him since July. He is our first landseer and will be eight in December. He is so goofy! When he gets really excited he leaps and dances around and looks ridiculous. ;) He had to learn to play, but now loves running around the yard, especially with Coulson. He has helped Coulson be more confident and to relax when my sister and I are gone. While C.K. had good leash manners, he didn't know any other commands and hated being brushed! Both are being worked on and he is making really good progress. He is also a notorious counter surfer! Sweet things, such as cake are not safe from him.

I know this is really long, but I wanted to give a bit of information about each them and who doesn't like talking about their Newfies? :) It hasn't been all sunshine either: blown knees, serious behavior issues, skin problems, spay incontinence with our one girl, raising two puppies with an eight month old puppy all at once, to name just a few. But it is all so worth it. Anyway, thanks for letting me prattle a bit. I look forward to getting to know you all. :)

Hi welcome from the uk.
Your pack sounds great and yes some are more challenging than others but lots of baby steps are needed at times.

Look forward to more stories

:kgo_057:Welcome from Montana!

Loved reading about your pack....wow, that is a lot of newfies! I am both jealous and astounded. (We just have one newf and a little golden retriever rescue and they are quite a handful for us :) )

Great pictures and I look forward to more pictures and stories!

Welcome from Maryland. I lived in PA for many years. My Newf will also be 8 in December and is a landseer. I LOVE the name of yours...especially since "Philadelphia Storey" is one of my favorite movies. You have an incredible group and they are all lucky to be a part of your family.
