Heated water bowl

Does anyone use a heated bowl in the winter? If so, is there a type that is better?

My whole kennel is outfitted with heated water buckets. I use the five gallon buckets. Only use heated water bowls for very young pups. Problem with the bowls is that the water is warm rather than cold, the way Newfs like it. With the buckets the water that they drink is at the top, far from the heating element, and thus cool.

I was wondering if the water in a heated bowl would be too warm for them. The way you described the heated bucket makes more sense. Glad I asked before I bought one.
