Happy Gotcha Day CK!

Yesterday was C.K.'s first gotcha day! (He got a peanut butter doughnut for his special day. :)) This last year has flown by. He is doing so well and has made such strives over the last couple of months in particular. We can clean his ears now, brush him for a reasonable amount of time with only a little amount of drama, and his barking has improved in almost all areas. ;)

When we come home he's not content until he gets his big bear hug and if it's not long enough he let's us know! When he needs reassurance he will come over and bury his head in our laps and then collapse on the floor for belly rubs. He is goofy and ridiculous at times and, occasionally, obnoxious, but I can't imagine life without him now! :)

Happy gotcha day, C.K. Dexter Haven!

He was a rescue, Angela. He was surrendered to a local rescue I volunteer at because his owner did not have enough time for him with her work schedule. (He was spending 16+ hours a day in a crate.) He came to us knowing how to walk on a leash, (a huge plus), but that was it. He had a lot of behavior issues we have been working on since. For instance: it took a solid 11 months before we could brush him without him turning super mouthy on us. Let's just say we weighed him recently and all the positive training showed up there. ;)
