I was perusing the archives on everybodys favorite Newf books and was glad that someone mentioned Great Balls of Fur by Nita Jager. I love this book and it has a special meaning to us as well. After we brought our first puppy home, I was on the phone with our breeder all the time. During one of our many conversations I mentioned the book. I raved about how good it was and asked if she had read it. She laughed and said "My mother wrote it". I sat there for a second and then said "You're Holly!" I was so excited to not only have my long dreamed for puppy but a connection to one of my favorite books. I told her how touched I was by her Mother's garden for the Newfs. Her Mother would plant a rosebush for every Newfie that she lost. Each rosebush was different and named for the Newf. Holly told me that she continued the tradition. Little did I know that a few short months later she would be planting a bush for our baby Celery I highly recommend this book to all of you! It is an exceptional read. Well worth the search to find it!
