getting the coat ready and stacking

This may be a stupid question, but a few years ago I worked for Marget Johnson and Bill Matlock of Windwagon Newfoundlands. I keep trying to remember what they used to fluff the coat before going into the ring. I keep thinking it was a mixture of listerine and water, lightly blown into the coat. Is this right???? Does anyone know??? I also was wondering how far you put the back legs out and how wide are they spread? I am going to show at a fun show and I don't want to look like a fool. :O

Listerine and water is what some people use, but don't put in too much listerine. Water only, at ringside! Hocks should be perpendicular with the ground when stacked. Practice at home, preferably in front of a mirror, to see what looks best. And don't make it so far back or so wide that the dog isn't comfortable and fidgets! Good luck!

Hi Jeanne
You should be able to find a happy medium, but a little tickle under the tummy usually gets them to the correct posture. Often times the sway back is just lazy posture. Sometimes it is conformation. Try it it can help.
