French Toast for Dogs

As some of you know I have been doing research and testing of diets for Newfoundlands since 1982. My illness this week caused me to clear my calendar for the balance of the week and this enabled me time to go to mass this morning. When I go to mass I reward myself afterwards with my favourite brunch, an order of French toast along with two side orders of sausages.

As I was eating my French toast I thought about the ingredients: bread, dairy and eggs. Then it hit me – these are the same ingredients in the bread units that are the base of my new kibble free diets for Newfoundland dogs and if I were to cook them I would have French toast. In other words, 32 years of research has resulted in French toast for dogs

We are currently feeding a raw ketogenic diet to our tribe since Maxs cancer diagnosis.

So unfortunately no bread allowed due to the high carb content. Have to admit even my fussy gsd likes the change though for her and my cross l do throw a handful of high quality kibble in with the mix.

I am still struggling a little with low gi veg but hoping it will become second nature eventually.

Any advice Peter is gratefully received as head is still spinning with so much research

My research with respect to cancer is focused on prevention rather than on treatment. However the main preventative that I employ is often used for treatment as well and that is sockeye salmon oil. Here is a link to a recent thread on SSO: http://www.newf.net/Forums/showthread.php?t=107327

Haha! I love it!

And Maggie still loves her diet! (We modified away from bread, as wheat gives her stinky ears, but added sweet potato and cooked pearled barley instead.) Our vet is VERY impressed with her energy level, and beautiful coat/skin!
