Hi everyone...

I'm sure *some* of you can identify with my position... my newfie is due to be whelped May 2 and I can't wait!!
I spent the whole weekend at the dog show and drooled all over the newfies!

I'm glad to have found this site and am looking forward to learning as much as I can before we pick up our new baby!!

We're pretty sure we're going to get a girl and we're thinking of naming her Millie.

We're well prepared for big-dog ownership as we count two Great Danes amongst our family members but this will be our first Newf (finally!). I'm anxious to see the personality differences and the quirks that are unique to Newfs.

Get ready to
Be leaned on,
to have a watery face put in your lap just after dunking it in the water dish,
be ready to never walk around the house in just socks ever again
be ready for a lover of rain, mud puddles, and snow.
be ready for a very loving companion, that is loyal, intelligent, and mischievious.
i could go on......
welcome to newf net

Sar,

Well, so far the only attributes that will be new and different are:
. lover of rain, and mud puddles; and,
. intelligent and mischevious!

I've had seven danes (including the two I have now) and only two of them were anything near what I would call smart! ;) And most of them are too cowardly to be mischevious!! They love the snow tho (this year that was a good thing!) but getting their feet wet is definitely not on their top ten list!!

Thanks for the heads up, tho!!

Oh my gosh, this is so true. I've just moved out of home, leaving Rory down the road with my Mum and sister and I'm only *just* getting used to walking around in socks or barefoot again!

That's wonderful news! Welcome to the furry gang! I might add get used to fur in your food too. :D the joke is "if you own a Newf and don't have dog hairs in your dinner, you must be eating out!" Anne
