Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency

This is a new one on me but apparently, it is fairly common ... from what I understand from another dog forum I'm on... someone on that forum just had a 17 month old diagnosed; had symptoms very similar to ones that we often discuss here.

"old hands" probably know all about this, but I thought I'd post this link for anyone whose dog is having digestive issues... there are pictures of poop too...

It's commom in GSD's. I fostered a sweet, skinny little shepherd EPI girl for 8 months. It took forever to place her because the pancreatic enzymes are outrageously expensive. She went to a vet tech eventually and lives a happy, normal life with her supplements.

The dog that was just diagnosed is a 17 month Eurasier (their ancestry is Chow/Keeshond/Samoyed).... as I was typing this, a coworker just told me that her 14 month border collie died over christmas; now, this dog had these exact symptoms and neither one of us had heard of this until today (the dog has been skinny as a rail for months, I had given her the satin balls recipe)... she had her dog to the vet 2 days before she died and was given antibiotics for infection.... how angry would you be!!!

Wow, the recommended diet is pretty close to what I intuitively started feeding Scucca because he was so starved. I noticed that when he ate kibble soaked in pup formula for one of his feedings he did not do well.

I have a lot of experience with raw diets in humans, so I've been applying that rationale to his feeds. He isn't on raw, but he is getting high enzyme stuff to help his digestion and limited grains. Kefir is particularly helpful with him as is coconut oil, which was listed on the EPI diet page.
