Dryer

I have read about the different dryers and in the past have seen the k9-iii is very popular. Is it truly worth the money? I want to be able to let my Newf swim but am hesitant because it takes her so long to dry and worry about the hot spots and irritation she may experience. Would love any feedback. We live in Virginia and it gets extremely hot and muggy in our area. I need a way to keep our girl exercised but not overheated and allowing her to romp in the water would be great!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! We have it mounted up on the wall in our garage for easy access and use it almost daily on our 2 Newfs and Lab. If they aren't wet from the Beach they are wet from the Pacific Northwest liquid sunshine! It also works good to blow out dander and dust from their coats. It is a hearty sturdy machine.

I got my K9-11 from The Electric Cleaner Company, it was refurbished, perfect condition , 7 years ago, still works like new, I paid less than $200 for it

So I ordered the dryer! Now.....I need advice to get Clara Bell used to it. She is 4 yrs old and we have only had her for 4 months. I have never had her to the groomer and her former owner said she had a bad experience, so when I groom her back end, I sometimes need to muzzle her, just because she gets "mouthy," not aggressive. After spending all that money on a dryer, I don't want her to fear it....she is fine with our hair dryers.

Baby steps! Start slow and treat her for just looking at it (not running yet). Then have someone else holding and treating her from across the room while you turn it on. Then move closer. Just take it slow and lots of rewards!

@Shellyk, did you get the mounts from the company or make your own? Would love to see pics as we're talking about mounting ours too.

I asked my husband who mounted it and he said he made the metal brackets and screwed them into studs. He said it's easily removable too. I will have to take some pics. Mounting it up on the wall keeps it out of the way but always accessible. The hose hangs down and is held in place with a large hook. He also screwed a large hook into the wall below it and we put a leather short leash there to hook the dogs up to.

We got the dryer and after a few days of it sitting in the living room and moving it around near her (she was very cautious of the hose!) we were able to try it out. We used it on her dry at first then later on, we gave her a bath. She did excellent! We went slow and kept giving treats. Each time she would get a little crazy, we would take a break. She is super soft....and I am amazed how much of her undercoat came out! Holy cow! I think we will blow her out every other day or so, just to keep her coat and skin healthy. Thank you for the advice!
