I am so glad I went to the draft workshop hosted by the Potomac Valley BMD members. Everyone pitched in to help me adjust Chumley's equipment. When I was too shy to enter the ring with their judge, they encouraged me and somehow got me in there. Their judge was so knowledgeable and I could tell she went easy on Chumley and me as a team (we're beginners as were most who attended.) I had fun and learned quite a bit of important information. These members were so warm and friendly considering they never met me before today. I still don't know if I have enough courage to someday enroll in our own breed's draft testing, but they pointed me in the right direction. I think I'll volunteer to steward for our local breed club's draft testing.
At the end of the day I decided at the last minute to join the group taking their cart teams for a stroll through the forest even though they had a 10 minute start. Chumley and I ran these paths top speed with cart attached. When I finally caught up I asked what was so funny. They said they heard this loud noise that sounded like thunder and all turned to see us fast approaching. I had no idea this was their freight haul practice and not a leisurely stroll. They made me finish up with them by going into the ring and we got to go through the last part of the testing with them.
I only remembered to take pics at the end of the day so a lot of people were gone by then.
