Does this go on with our breed?

I saw this article on someone's facebook page. I read it and it brought back memories of High School and several of the animal groups I'm a part of.

Is the Newfoundland show world like this? So far from what I've seen on the forums, most of the people are not like this, but I've seen some catty behavior and bandwagon mentality.

This was always one of my fears when it came down to showing, along with not walking in the right direction and my dog pooping in the middle of the ring.

I think it can be, sometimes. This has everything to do with the handler and nothing to do with the breed. Idiots and jerks are everywhere. I think in the dog show world, you need to put on your big girl pants, your thick skin and just let the **** roll off you or you'll end up in a sneaky hate spiral that can really ruin the experience.

People often get mad when they don't win; they think it's politics, they think it's a stupid judge, etc. At the end of the day, it is one persons opinion of a set of dogs at that time, and it is what it is. I like what I like, and I don't always know why.

I think the key to showing (having never, ever done it myself) is to just focus on you and your dog. If your dog walked in and performed well, that is a win. What the judge says is just bonus, and what anyone else says is of no consequence, so just let it go.

I agree with you :)

I think where it gets out of control is where people take it too far and start harassing individuals. Your skin can only be so thick, as a human being, before you can be classified as a sociopath or psychopath. All of us, barring the two people I stated before, have feelings and they will get hurt after enough abuse.

Again, I've seen this mostly other places.

I just don't see why people have to be like that. We all have a common interest. Why can't people just get along. lol
